Medium Frequency Power Supplies · FL-IGBT

IGBT Series Resonance Medium Frequency Power Supply, 50–3,000 kW

Solid-state IGBT inverter with high power factor across the load range, low harmonics and fine control — for heating lines and modern melting shops.

  • High power factor across the whole load range — no reactive power penalty
  • Low harmonic distortion, usually without external filters
  • 1% power resolution with temperature and recipe closed loop
  • Zero-current switching — low losses, quiet operation
  • Compact cabinet, considerably smaller than an equivalent KGPS
  • Ethernet interface for remote diagnostics and production data

Product Details

The IGBT series-resonance topology switches at zero current, so switching losses are low and the unit holds a high power factor from part load to full load. That is the decisive advantage where the utility charges for reactive power or where the site runs on a generator.

Control resolution is far finer than a thyristor unit: output can be set in 1% steps and held against a temperature or a thermal-profile recipe, which is what an induction heating line or a heat treatment cell needs. Harmonic distortion at the point of common coupling is typically low enough to avoid external filtering.

The trade-off is service. IGBT modules are proprietary parts with a longer replacement lead time than a thyristor. We stock modules for every unit we ship and include a recommended two-year spares kit in the quotation.
