Vacuum Furnaces · FL-VHP
Simultaneous heat and uniaxial pressure to 2,300 °C and 500 kN, producing near-full-density parts from materials that will not densify by sintering alone.
Hot pressing applies uniaxial load through the graphite die while the part is at sintering temperature. Materials that resist densification by pressureless sintering — boron carbide, silicon carbide, some diamond composites and sputtering target materials — reach near-theoretical density this way.
Load is applied by a servo-hydraulic ram with programmable force and displacement, and the displacement signal is logged so densification can be tracked through the cycle. Temperature and load recipes run independently, so pressure can be applied at the right point in the thermal profile rather than throughout.
The system is fully automatic once the recipe starts: pump-down, ramp, load application, dwell, controlled cooling and vent all run without operator intervention.
